The Embedded Systems Demonstrators Laboratory was established in 2007 and is funded by the East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) and hosted by the University of Leicester.

The laboratory provides various realistic test facilites for embedded system research, product test demonstration and product development.

We also provide a connection service for mainly companies in the East Midlands Region, UK and university students interested in undergoing a summer placement scheme or required to take a year out in industry as part of their degree course.

The Embedded Systems Laboratory (ESL) in the Department of Engineering at the University of Leicester is the premier source of embedded systems training in the UK. It is the largest embedded processor software research group in a UK university and its research outputs are recognised as being world class.

In recent years the ESL has developed numerous tools and methodologies to solve some of the critical obstacles that potential developers of reliable embedded systems face. For example, the group has recently developed a novel Computer-Aided Systems Engineering (CASE) tool for reducing programming time and set-up cost for time-triggered embedded processors as part of its ongoing research activity in this area.

"At ESDL we aim to provide a portal through which cutting-edge academic research can be seamlessly transferred to industry to provide solutions to complex problems. We can also advise you on the best course of action to take if you have a complex research problem that needs tackling."
